Seems that #Windows is slower at doing stuff than my #Linux installation. Switching from “idle, screen off” to “accepting commands” takes around 1.5 seconds. With Linux - probably .5 seconds. The “Start” menu - arguably the main feature of Windows - 5 seconds to open. Outrageous.
